Sri Kembangan, 1st – In conjunction with the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Selangor-Kuala Lumpur Multiracial Mutual Aid Charity Group organized the “Joyous Goat Year Celebration” reunion event, where they distributed 68 bags of rice and 320 red packets to 228 single-parent family members.
During her speech, Chairperson Ms. Lim Wei Chen said:
“With the core belief that mutual aid is love, our group has long provided support to impoverished single-parent families, regardless of race or religion. The Multiracial Mutual Aid Charity Group began in 1998 and was officially registered as a charitable organization in 2004. Since its inception, we have distributed rice to single-parent families every month without fail.”
She expressed her heartfelt thanks to the group’s founder Mr. Fong Ti Keong, the dedicated volunteers, and Honorary Advisor Dato’ Wong Boon Ming for his generous sponsorship, as well as many kind donors from the community. Their support has enabled the organization to move forward steadily and successfully assist over 1,000 family members. She also expressed hope for more corporate support in the future.
The highlight of the event was a mesmerizing acrobatic performance by Noah Moore from Hawaii, which captivated the audience.
During the lucky draw segment, Datin Lim Yin Keow distributed 10 gift hampers (sponsored by Hibiscus Culture Enterprise), and Secretary Mr. Hu Weifa handed out 10 red packets (sponsored by Vice Chairperson Dato’ Ng Yee Hua).
The group also celebrated the birthdays of mothers and children born from December to February, with WCV Sdn Bhd sponsoring 28 packs of Rosense sanitary pads as birthday gifts.
Following the red packet and rice distribution by Honorary Advisor Dato’ Wong Boon Ming, the mothers and children enjoyed a hearty buffet meal. Special thanks were given to Dan Ting Vegetarian for sponsoring 200 vegetarian meals, and Victoria Bakery Café for 150 bread packs. Appreciation also went out to the mothers and volunteers who personally cooked and contributed dishes such as fried noodles, fried rice, pastries, curry chicken, and tea eggs.
The Chinese New Year gathering concluded joyfully at 12 noon. Gratitude was expressed to all attendees and supporters, including Mrs. Southeast Asia Global 2012 winners Wong Wen Xin and Mo Yue Mei.
